NBA Get Your Act Together!!!

I realize I haven't been on here in a while and thats my fault...sorry :( but seriously the National Basketball Association needs to get their ish together! I need to see all of my favorite players again on the court. Yes college basketball will help but the NBA is on such a higher level which makes it so exciting. Plus All-Star weekend was suppose to be in FL this year and I was planning to go! If the NFL can get their ish together why can't the NBA?

And the Awards go to.......

It's that time of year again, Award Time! I only really care about two awards, Rookie of the Year and MVP. I already mentioned who should win the MVP award this year, Derrick Rose! Rookie of the Year however.......should be obvious as well. Blake Griffin is a beast and deserves the award!

He had 214 dunks this season, along with being number 3 in the league in double-doubles, winning the 2011 Sprite Slam Dunk competition, and being selected for the 2011 All Star team as a rookie. The last time that happened was with Tim Duncan in the 90s!

Blake Griffin, you are the Rookie of the Year!! :D

Going Into the Playoffs...

So the NBA Playoffs start April 16th and I think we all know who is favored to win the whole thing  this year.........the Miami Heat.........I absolutely despise the Heat. I feel like they have gotten all of these fans and attention because of "The Big Three", Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh. Every time I see a Heat jersey I want to SCREAM!!!

I'm an Orlando Magic fan but I have my doubts about them winning the title this year. So my back up team is the Chicago Bulls. I really think they deserve it. Derrick Rose has played outstandingly the entire season and has led the Bulls to be the number one seed in the east, mind you that Rose did this without always having Carlos Boozer or Joakim Noah. When Michael Jordan, the best basketball player of all time, is giving you props, you know you are doing something right.

So Go MAGIC and GO BULLS!!!

Basketball Movies

Over the years there have been many different types of basketball movies. There have been dramas, children's, and even documentaries. One of the first basketball movies I can remember is Space Jam! I loved that movie it was a major part of my childhood. Space Jam was a cartoon but it incorporated real life basketball players mixing cartoon characters like Bugs Bunny with real life people.

Another great basketball movie is Like Mike. This movie is one of my favorites. It has Bow Wow in it and he plays an orphan who finds Michael Jordan's old shoes which gives him super basketball skills and he ends up being a little 4 foot nothing kid playing in the NBA.

Both of the movies above are great but my ultimate favorite basketball movie and my number two favorite movie overall is..............Coach Carter! I LOVE this movie. It has everything from comedy to intense basketball sequences. I really can't put into words how much I like this movie or even tell you why I like it, I JUST DO!!!

Now moving on to documentaries. I am not a fan of Lebron James AT ALL. You could say I have a very strong passionate dislike for that man, however I did watch his movie More Than A Game. I have to say that the movie was very interesting. I guess I liked it because it wasn't just about Lebron James it was about the whole team and it was a documentary which reminds me of reality TV shows so they interest me. I'd recommend this movie.

History Repeats Itself

Today Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls took on the Orlando Magic minus Dwight Howard, who was suspended due to being over the limit of technical fouls. I didn't watch the entire game but I saw the last quarter. Both teams went back and forth. The difference in score was one or two points almost the entire quarter. The ending of this game however is the point in the game that brings back the most memories. The game ended with Jameer Nelson putting up a 3 point shot and making it. As soon as it went in the entire arena screamed and celebrated because making that shot meant that they tied and the game would go to overtime giving the Orlando Magic a chance to win. Sadly however Jameer Nelson didn't release the shot in time and it didn't count. This ending brings up memories of  The 2011 ACC Tournament in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Don't get me wrong being at the tournament was very exciting however the fans made it a living hell. Here's what I wrote about the experience:

So on Saturday night I attended the 2011 ACC Tournament in NC. I watched the Duke vs. Maryland game and the FSU vs VT game. I was like a pebble in a snowstorm! Everyone there was either a Duke fan or a VT fan. I knew what to expect from the Duke fans because they are like the Lakers of the NCAA and the Steelers of the NCAA-NO CLASS! They just are so cocky and want to mock their opponent. They worship Singler and Smith(It was satanic and cult like how they started chanting his name when he got hurt) I just have a very very very strong and passionate dislike for them.

As for VT I had no problems with them until that game. They were totally rude and obnoxious. Some Duke fans stayed and were being very rude as well. People were saying things like “this is the most boring game ever” and doing the FSU war chant mockingly. If you are bored, LEAVE, it's as simple as that. To make things worse this little kid was screaming DELANEY the whole game in his annoying southern accent. I wanted to yell at him and say “There’s no such thing as SANTA”, but i resisted lol.

So when Derwin made that last shot I jumped, yelled, and screamed things I shouldn’t have. I got real crunk like somebody just shot me with an adrenaline needle. The section I was in was extra quiet at that time….lol. I should have been really embarrassed when the shot ended up not counting but I wasn’t lol. I had too much energy and rage inside me to care….so the fact that they aren’t in the tournament and FSU is, is icing on the cake :)

Derrick Rose MVP Promo

Derrick Rose has been an outstanding player all season. He has led the Chicago Bulls to the number 1 seed in the eastern conference for the playoffs. I know he has this years MVP in the bag. My favorite team is the Orlando Magic but I would be very happy for the Bulls if they win this years championship! :)

P.S. Me and Derrick Rose have the same nickname!

VCU: The Not So Fairytale Ending

You would think I would be conflicted going into the tournament with Florida State (my school) and VCU (the school in my hometown state/underdog team) being in the mix however I was die hard rooting for FSU. My own grandfather, who has no blood ties to VCU, sent out a mass email about how he was soooo excited that two Richmond teams made it to the "Sweet Sixteen" and how he wanted VCU to beat FSU. Note that he sent this email to EVERYONE including me and my dad (who went to FSU). When I opened the email I was immediately taken a back, I felt betrayed. It's like why would you send this to me knowing which team I want to win.

Well, if you watched the 2011 NCAA Tournament then you know how this story ended. VCU beat FSU and ended up going all the way to the "Final Four". Watching that "Sweet Sixteen" game I couldn't bare to look at the television screen but I couldn't look away either. I know a lot of people who go to VCU so the whole week they had been posting on my Facebook wall about how they were going to win and such. So as soon as the Seminoles screwed up their last possession I started getting phone calls.

So after that night my hatred of VCU started growing deep and fast. Each game they played I wanted them to lose sooo badly, and of course they end up at the Final Four. SMH. It all worked out in the end though they did not go ALL the way. As soon as they lost I sent a text to my friend that goes who to VCU saying "how you like them apples". Of course she replies with "we made it further than you did". Personally IDC that you made it further as long as you didn't win.

I was shocked to hear that a riot broke out after VCUs "Final Four" loss. The police used tear gas and everything! Part of me deep down is happy about this riot because to me it shows that they are a bunch of sore losers who assumed that they could be stopped by no one. Karmas a B*tch!
